Anaïs was named after my very first perfume, back in secondary school days, not from chanel nor dior nor guerlain nor marc jacob, it was anaïs anaïs from Cacharel.
Anaïs' love for the scents originates from her gardening and flower arrangement, that makes her practise essential oils and as a perfumer, she studied perfume and aromatulogie in the famous city of Grasse
Today she is making a pot pourri, under the ambiance of aroma burning of fleury geranium and bergamot
in her provençal home
contented with a cup of camomile tea (on the right is a real sachet pourri, in strong lavender scent, from high altitudes in the provence)
her salon is decorated with provençal motifs, the warm, beloved provençal fabric tablecloth, wallpaper and furniture
Le Figaro of the day...she still writes her journal with her old fashioned typewriter!

i know that this shirt, worn by Beatrice, would be among my favourite... emblematic of chemise Cacharel, one of the earliest French prêt-à-porter fashion house, founded in provençal city of Nime instead of Paris, famous for its shirts with country floral pattern in watercolour hues (Liberty prints) .. that evolved the Liberty of London cotton fabric, thus formed the early notion of ready-to-wear.
I'd love to dig out my several Cacharel bought in Paris. The present designs by Clements & Ribeiro are still adorable (available in HK - yeah of coz everything is available to shop here!- in cacharel boutiques in several locations in TST & CWB). And of course the lingeries, especially in Liberty prints!

The Flying Frenchman (翱翔的法國人) is one of my favourite (unknown) "landmark" in Hong Kong, a sculpture by César Baldaccini, erected by the Cartier Fondation in 1991, in the piazza off Cultural Centre. It is also a favourite resting place for trepassing sparrows in the square!
A sinistre metal silhouette, soldiery and free spirit, firmly grounded and geared to set off to the sky with his (imaginary?) wings (... my impression and interpretation of this work of art)
Birdie imitates the romanticism of this Daedalus, with her Air France oldie bag and her Parisian book of map... and looking to the blue and cumulo-nimbus clustered sky. She is scorned by piyo, the real birdie messenger.

Upon looking at van gogh's sunflowers, one begins to notice aspects that seem to flow from one piece to another. The colors are vibrant and express emotions typically associated with the life of sunflowers: bright yellows of the full bloom to arid browns of wilting and death; all of the stages woven through these polar opposites are presented. Perhaps this very technique is what draws one into the painting; the fulfillment of seeing all angels of the spectrum of life and in turn reaching a deeper understanding of how all living things are tied together.
